CLEAN

returns a text string with non-printable characters removed.

Syntax:

CLEAN(text)

returns text with all non-printable characters removed.
Spaces are not removed.

Example:

where cell A1 contains =CHAR(7) & "cat" & CHAR(8):

CLEAN(A1)

returns cat. The 2 non-printable characters are removed.

LEN(CLEAN(A1))

returns 3, the number of characters in cat.
