Talk:Documentation/Dashboard/Ideastorm

Radical suggestion: Treat the main page like a Talk page, with signed comments and colon-indentation syntax, as the best way to gather ideas and have small, focused discussions. Possibly even move all the content to this Talk page, leaving a note like,"We're trying to gather ideas, so the real work is on the Discussion page." --TJ 13:00, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

TJ, I don't like this idea, as discussions sometimes tend to block/destroy/hinder ideas. For me the collection phase for ideas should be most possible open, so that you can add new ideas, let you be inspired by other ideas, combine them and so on - but you should not discuss (or criticize or even valuate) them. You just should let you animate and let your fantasy dream around. Discussion should be opened only after collection is finished (at least the first iteration of it) -nino 22:20, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Tool comparison

I don't know if we need this, but thought it might be of help to have a place where arguments can be collected. For people like me (not professional) this might be helpful for looking up.

Image naming convention

For the image naming convention please have a look at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Dashboard/Wiki_Editing_Policy#Graphical_Content --Mwaller 10:40, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

The suggestions there do not address exactly the perspective I had in mind. My idea was to name screenshots of each application element (icon, button, bar) according to an application based naming scheme (e.g. OOoBar for Toolbars so OOoBar-Image.png could be the Image Toolbar or OOoButton-ImageFromFile.png for the Insert Image button). Then you could easily and quickly search for OOoBar.* or similar and the icons or toolbar screenshots could be reused for many documents (for many localizations, too). It's a bit like "commons" for wikipedia. -nino 00:07, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
