Accessing Styles

Styles are most frequently accessed through the Styles and Formatting deck of the Sidebar or the Styles and Formatting dialog. The tools for using styles are identical in the Sidebar and the dialog, shown in Figure 99. To avoid repeating "the Sidebar deck or the dialog," we will refer to both as the Styles and Formatting window; use whichever you prefer.

You can open the dialog in several ways.

  • Keyboard: Press the  F11  key.
  • Menu: Choose Format → Styles and Formatting.
  • Toolbar: Click the AOO41CG04 098a iconStyles.png icon on the far left of the Formatting toolbar.

If the Sidebar is not visible, it can be opened with View → Sidebar. Once the Sidebar is visible, you can select the Styles and Formatting deck by clicking the Styles and Formatting icon AOO41CG04 098b iconStylesSidebar.png The first button on the top left of the window, AOO41CG04 098c iconCellStyles.png, is for cell styles, and the second, AOO41CG04 098d iconPageStylesSidebar.png, is for page styles.
