How do I stop Apache OpenOffice from inserting tabs in front of the cursor position when I click on an empty paragraph or empty table cell??


This is a function called Direct Cursor in the OpenOffice.org:

  • From the main menu bar, select Tools → Options.
  • In the dialog that appears, select OpenOffice Writer → Formatting Aids.
  • Unclick Direct Cursor.
  • Click  OK .
