R1C1 is the best notation for a sheet wider than 26 columns, and it's been on the "next version" list for several iterations of OOo (issue 72191). The R1C1 option, for column display and direct formula entry, is the primary reason I still use Excel. I hope R1C1 display is implemented in OOo 3.3!
