In spreadsheets, when numbers are formatted as text , some
functions that are related to numbers become unavailable. To change the text-formatted numbers back to real numbers, one way is to reenter the numbers after modifying the cell properties. If you have a column of text-formatted numbers to transform and do not want to reenter
the numbers, use the following way.To transform a column of text-formatted numbers into numbers,
do the following steps:
- Select the column of cells with text-formatted numbers.
- From the main menu, click Text to Columns window opens. . The
- In the Fields area, click the column in the preview list, and then select Standard from the Column type list.
- Click OK.
