Talk:OOoArt--OOo logo license
I just wrote what I thought to have understood (or wanted to understand) from Louis' logo license mail at the art project.
When we found a final text it should be uploaded to the logo gallery.

text on logo licensing - some more thoughts
Things to add/keep in mind for this text and for the final rules in the Style Guide. Please tell me your opinions:
- Copyright of OpenOffice.org logo belongs to SUN Microsystems
- Upgrades of OOo logo (such as version numbers) should be done by project members that have signed JCA

Is there an actual license for use with the OOo logo? If not, would it make sense for us to draft one? (I mean, we do have a couple of lawyer types in the house.)

I got answer from Louis yesterday, that he likes this text and will send it to Sun Microsystems to get it approved (because they are the copyright owner). I think they will give it to their lawyers, since it is in their own interest to have a license they can rely on.

Wow -- no activity on this recently.
It seems to me that besides "Usage Guidelines", we may want to establish "Branding Standards" like many large enterprises do. These would govern things like the official colors (spot and process equivalents), guidelines for logo positioning and placement (some companies, for instance, insist that there must be 1/2" of space on all sides of their logo), background colors, and any other bits of appropriate BRANDING information.
