Wouldn't it be easier to create a way to export text from Writer into the raw WikiText that can be copied and pasted directly into a mediawiki page?  That would seem to be much easier than trying to log into the server and create/edit a page directly from OpenOffice.  [[User:Chadlupkes|Chadlupkes]] 23:31, 7 May 2008 (CEST)

Another approach to this is to use [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Word_macros Word macros] - there's some good functionality there, including converting footnotes, but it needs to be tidied and turned into one macro, and it needs to be converted to work on OpenOffice rother than MS Word. Could this be integrated into OpenOffice, and how would the results compare with the MediaWiki Extension described here? I don't know what language is used for the MediaWiki Extension, but are they compatible enough that the best of each could be combined together?

A different option

Wouldn't it be easier to create a way to export text from Writer into the raw WikiText that can be copied and pasted directly into a mediawiki page? Using a macro

Another approach to this is to use Word macros - there's some good functionality there, including converting footnotes, but it needs to be tidied and turned into one macro, and it needs to be converted to work on OpenOffice rother than MS Word. Could this be integrated into OpenOffice, and how would the results compare with the MediaWiki Extension described here? I don't know what language is used for the MediaWiki Extension, but are they compatible enough that the best of each could be combined together?

(Note, sorry if I'm not making informed comments about the extension on OpenOffice, as it's is broken for me - I get "Error saving the document... Write Error. The file could not be written.") ----Chriswaterguy 09:46, 1 July 2008 (CEST)
