Issues with generic target 3.0.1

  • Martin mentioned that code freeze for 3.0.1 is next week
  • There are still about 50 open issues with that target
  • We're hardly on track (Uwe)
  • Martin would like to have an RC1 out before xmas break
  • last cws integration for 3.0.1 RC1 will be on December 15th.
  • Marcus Lange will do an upload until December 19th
  • Uwe mentioned two show stoppers
    • Issue 96938
    • Issue 86509 which was a stopper for 3.0 and which hasn't been fixed yet. Ruediger and Uwe denied it to be a stopper.
  • René asked why OOO300_m13 isn't finished yet. Ruediger answered that Ivo is still working on it. It probably will be finished this evening
  • René mentioned that reportbuilder extension is still not part of DEV300 codeline as an own module
  • Kai Ahrens will work on reportbuilder integration within the upcoming week. Release Engineering (rt, etc) can help
  • Martin asked Uwe if we're on track with 3.1 UI/Feature freeze date. Uwe mentioned that there are currently not enough QA resources. Martin proposed to hurry up with preparing those CWS for QA.
  • Martin still counts 800 issues with 3.1 target.

  • Martin mentioned that the 3.0.1 status doesn't look very well. We wanted to have the last milestone started on December 11th. There are still 56 open issues and there are several CWSes that haven't been approved yet
  • René proposed to move hunspell4thesaurus to 3.1 target. Martin changed that
  • René mentioned CWS tl56
  • Regarding 3.1 status Martin said that more than 800 issues are open.
  • Martin mentioned there now is a 3.2 target in EIS available
  • Uwe Luebbers mentioned issue 93994 and issue 96647 with target 3.1 are on 3.0.1 stopper list. Martin re-targets these issues. René said we need the updated bridge code. Martin had a look at the patch and said the patch doesn't look too complex.

OOo 2.4.2 status

  • Issue 95432 was raised. Martin Hollmichel hopes that this issue can get fixed within the sources. René Engelhard seconded this. Pavel said RE should rebuild. In this case Martin asked to move this issue from the blockers list. This has been accepted.
  • Issue 91466 will not be fixed in time for 2.4.2 but 2.4.x
  • Martin asked if we can release 2.4.2. This has been accepted.
  • Joost tries to prepare the files for a release at 11am (Hamburg time) on wednesday

René asked Martin regarding "internal" issues within the 2.4.2 release. Martin told René that corresponding issues have been created in IssueTracker (the "internal" issues are needed for Sun internal housekeeping). René took the following CWSses as example: native204, c07v019. Regarding native204 Martin told him that the CWS fixed one SO issue and for c07v019 several xhtml related fixes were collected into one public issue. Martin asked Marcus Lange if the "internal" issue b6713815 is covered by an IssueTracker issue. Marcus Lange told that this issue was was a fix for a bookmark (labels) issue in writer. He told René to better document such issues in future.

Sophie asked if it would be possible to have l10n test builds before 3.1 translation integration in Pootle, just to check that fixes integrated since 3.0 make it for sure (and close our issues) into 3.1 before we are lost into translation? Martin told her that it is possible and that he'll ask Ivo Hinkelmann about this.

Eric Bachard asked for download numbers for the MacOSX downloads. The only trace available can be taken from Bouncer

Marcus will provide a list of 2.4.2 issues by tomorrow

  • Martin Hollmichel mentioned issue 93978 and asked to integrate it into 3.0.1. This has been accepted.
  • Martin Hollmichel asked to move issue 93731 to 3.0.1 target. This has been accepted.
  • issue 94043 will get fixed by exchanging the source tarballs when cppunit module is available from anoncvs
  • René mentioned that we need to have a detailed release process for extension releases. Martin Hollmichel doesn't like to code the microreleases information into the code of extensions and IssueTracker doesn't have corresponding version and target fields. It's almost impossible to see what has been fixed within an extension and what has been fixed within the office code. Martin suggested to comment at the extensions working paper
  • Mechtilde mentioned a problem with RPM system integration. System integration of two builds are included within one RPM system integration package issue 93564. Linux Packages will get re-packaged.

Discussion on stopper issues

  • Martin asked if IHI is still working on issue 92874. He does.
  • Mechtilde asked about the status of issue 92239 because she got eight crashes. Uwe asked her to read the issue because it was not planned for 3.0. It was accepted as 3.1 fix. Martin will check if a backport is possible. Daniel will backport this issue.
  • Martin asked about the due date of CWS sysui30 Ruediger mentioned that sysui30 will hopefully be ready today. Then he asked if Sept 5th is OK for native190 and native191. Olaf asked for another date that is valuable to have it approved. Martin insisted on having it approved this week because he wants to have the RC this week. Olaf will contact Ingo to get the CWSses ready for Tuesday to have the first CWS approved on Wednesday and the second CWS approved on Thursday. CWS native190 will get ready for QA by today and probably finished by tomorrow. CWS native191 will probably be approved on Wednesday.
  • Raphael asked if issue 93248 and issue 93155 are really stoppers ? Martin told him they are fixed in CWS dba30j and he wondered himself as well but the issues are fixed within platform dependend code and the character is quite common for some locales.

OOo 3.0 status

3.0 Beta blocker issues have been discussed
There are more than 1000 open issue 7 weeks before code freeze. Martin Hollmichel stated that we will not able to fix all of them in time for 3.0. He proposed to retarget P3-P5 issues with no keyword set to 3.x to be able to concentrate on the important bugs. Pavel suggested to call first for fixing all the bugs asap and think about retargeting in a second step. Martin to send out call to developers and QA to fix 3.0 issues.

Juergen Schmidt asked for an exception to have the new Extension Manager UI integrated
"Beta Refresh" is planned for end of June. The release status meeting agreed to integrate this into 3.0 since the extensions became quite popular. word count is about a few hundred words, given the approval of Rafaella we are going to integrate into 3.0

The branch for OOo 3.0 Beta 2 will be called OOO300 since it will be continued until OOo 3.0 Final release. The development codeline for OOo 3.1 will then be open with begin of June. RE raised their concerns about branching too early, this only works well if main part of work will really be done for 3.1 codeline, this seems unlikely to happen. Martin points out that reducing of bug count is indeed quite important to make this work.
