ISTEXT

Tests if a cell contains text.

Syntax:

ISTEXT(value)

Returns TRUE if value is or refers to text, and FALSE otherwise.

Example:

ISTEXT(“dog”)

returns TRUE.

ISTEXT(C2)

where cell C2 contains cat returns TRUE.

ISTEXT(C3)

where cell C3 contains =NA() returns FALSE, because NA() returns an error value, not text.

ISTEXT(C4)

where C4 is an empty cell returns FALSE (an empty cell contain no text).
