How do I get a word count for a selected part of the text within a document?

How do I get a word count for a selected part of the text within a document?


  1. Select the text
  2. Choose Tools → Word Count.

The word count and character account appear in a small window.


This function is not available in early versions of OpenOffice.org without using a macro. Here are some:
