How do I stop Apache OpenOffice from formatting test between asterisks in bold?
When using asterisks [ * ], Apache OpenOffice removes the asterisks and presents the text in bold. How do I reverse this setting?
Typing an asterisk [ * ] before and after a word or words allows for words to be made bold without using the mouse. Similarly, typing an underscore [ _ ] before and after a word or words allows for words to be underlined.
To reverse this setting:
- Select Tools → AutoCorrect Options and the Options tab.
- Near the top of the list click the checkbox next to Automatic *bold* and _underline_ to deselect this choice.
- Click OK at the bottom of the dialog to apply the change.
Alternatively, as with any AutoCorrect/AutoFormat action, the action can be reversed with undo (CTRL+Z). So if you type *123* the program turns this into 123, now press CTRL+Z and it will go back to *123*.
