The first time that you start Apache OpenOffice, a wizard opens to guide you through the registration process. You can also start this process if you choose the Help → Registration menu item in any Apache OpenOffice program. If you want, you can use a configuration file to deactivate the registration wizard as well as the Registration menu command.

To Deactivate the Registration Wizard at the First Startup of Apache OpenOffice

You can only perform this task during the first start up of Apache OpenOffice after you install Apache OpenOffice.

  1. Start Apache OpenOffice.
    The Registration Wizard opens.
  2. Follow the instructions.
  3. On the step 3 User Name page, leave the user information boxes empty.
  4. On the step 4 Registration page, select I do not want to register, and then click the Finish button.
  5. Create an archive file of the Apache OpenOffice 2 user directory.
    • On Windows XP, create a ZIP file of the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apache OpenOffice 2 directory.
    • On UNIX and Linux, create a TAR file of the home/.Apache OpenOffice2 directory.
