In Apache OpenOffice, you can send the current document as an email attachment.

In Solaris and Linux, the email client must support the attachment of a document to an email message through a command-line. In Windows, the email client must support the Messaging Application Program Interface (MAPI).

Apache OpenOffice officially supports the following email clients on Solaris, Linux, and Windows:

  • Mozilla 1.4 and higher
  • Netscape 7.1 and higher

Configuring Apache OpenOffice to Use an Email Client on Windows

You do not need to configure Apache OpenOffice to use an email client in Windows. Apache OpenOffice automatically uses the default email client, so long as the client uses the Messaging Application Program Interface (MAPI). See this article for how to change the default email client per user under Windows.
