ooo-build has distribution-specific behavior. Most of the differences lie in package naming (e.g. xxx-devel on Fedora/SuSE vs libxxx-dev on Debian/Ubuntu) and availability.

You may be safest going with SuSE, since that's where most of the development seems to be happening, but everyone has their favorite distro.
