Introduction

Many requests for software support result from complicated formulas and solutions that try to solve simple day-to-day problems. Another solution is to use a Pivot Table, a tool for easily combining, comparing, and analyzing large amounts of data. With a Pivot Table, you can summarize the same source data in a variety of ways, displaying the details of areas of interest and creating reports.

This chapter is divided into two sections:

  • Examples with Step-by-Step Descriptions” uses three typical cases to demonstrate the advantages and applications of a Pivot Table. Follow the examples to learn how easy it is to use this tool.
  • Functions in Detail”, describes the use of Pivot Tables in detail. You can use this part to look up how a function is used, and it is not necessary to understand or even read through all of this section to use Pivot Tables effectively.
