Can I adjust the rulers in Writer?

  • Rulers are generally visible by default, and they can be adjusted using the mouse.
Documentation note.png If rulers are not visible, then choose View → Ruler in the menu bar. (To change default ruler views--for instance, to see the horizontal and not the vertical ruler--choose Tools → Options. In the Options box that appears, double-click on OpenOffice Writer, select View, and select or de-select the ruler choices offered on the right side of the box.)
  • Adjust the settings on horizontal ruler by left-clicking and moving icons for tab stops, indents, and margins that are on the ruler.
  • To re-set units of measurement on the rulers, right-click in the filled areas of the ruler, and select a choice from the drop-down menu.
