Documentation Project plan 2009/10

The OOo Documentation Project needs some planning and guidance.  There is a lot of work that can be done, but littl eof it is actually being done outside of the OOoAuthors manuals (and even there, there is a lot of help needed).

This is a first draft of ideas for establishing some guidlines, priorities etc., and identifying the gaps and problem areas

  1. Identify the duplication of effort.  Exactly how many different Doc projects exist? How many are active? How many are producing docs that are duplicates of existing docs?:
  2. Licenses that each of the many docs are released under.  Are they compatible?
  3. What manuals are currently available?  What is missing?
  4. What communication channels are we using? the dev@documentation mailing list? The OOoForum?  The Wiki discussion pages?
  5. Doc process?  Is there any definition of what to do, and how to do it?  All on the Wiki? Offline in another process?
  6. Where can new authors or community members get started?
  7. Publication? On the Wiki only? Provide "Wiki Books" ( eg

- Define what communication medium(s) team will be using
 - Stage one: CENTRALIZED wiki for rough drafts creation and collecting ideas?
 - Stage two: E-mailing in ODF format with changes having been tracked?
 - Stage three: HTML versions for final drafts?
- Communicate with team members what milestone each manual is currently at so we know here to devote our time
 - Sending Weekly/Monthly status updates to the group?
 - Sending status updates to new members when they sign up?
- Communicate to the user community
 - Post final versions on http://download.openoffice.org/index.html
