I've installed Apache OpenOffice, now what do I do?
Simply start the Apache OpenOffice application.
- Windows: After the installation, an entry for Apache OpenOffice is listed in the Programs menu. The OOo 3 Setup program did place an OOo icon on your desktop.
- After Apache OpenOffice has started, an icon will be available on the system tray. (It looks like flying seagulls on a blue and white background.) Click on the icon with the right mouse button to quickly start the various different components of the office suite. This quick-launcher will automatically start when you log in.
- Linux: If you installed the desktop integration, you will find Apache OpenOffice in your program list. If you prefer to use the terminal, navigate to the AOo/program folder (can usually be found at /opt/openoffice4/program) and run the soffice executable, and optionally create a symlink at /usr/bin/soffice to /opt/openoffice4/program to make the soffice executable accessible from any folder.
- Mac: The AOo icon starts the Writer window first. Choose File > New menu to open the other programs like Calc, Impress, Draw.
